When I started Macdonald Edinburgh Electrical in 2014, my focus was on providing reliable, high-quality electrical services to customers across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
From small electrical repairs and consumer unit upgrades to full house rewires, every job was an opportunity to build our reputation and earn the trust of our customers.
As the years went by, the business began to grow, and so did my ambitions.
I’d always been interested in renewable energy. In fact, when I wrote my original About Us page back in 2014, I mentioned that it was something I wanted the company to move into.
Over time, that ambition became reality.
We expanded into solar PV installations, battery storage, EV charging and heat pump electrical installations, investing in the training, qualifications and experience needed to carry out this work to a high standard.
Becoming an NICEIC Approved Contractor and an MCS-certified installer marked important milestones in that journey.
The jobs became bigger, the technology became more advanced, and the challenges became more demanding. But I never wanted us to lose sight of what made the business successful in the first place.
I’ve always believed that the small jobs matter just as much as the big ones. Whether we’re replacing a socket or installing a complete solar and battery storage system, our name is on that work.
Today, we’re able to undertake projects from the initial site visit through to installation, testing and commissioning, taking pride in seeing the whole job through.
Looking back, we’ve come a long way from where we started.
And while the industry will continue to change, we’ll continue to learn, adapt and improve.
Because growing a business isn’t just about getting bigger. It’s about getting better at what you do.
