A Smarter Way to Store Energy

At Macdonald Edinburgh Electrical, we believe a battery storage installation should be designed around the customer’s needs, both now and in the future.

For this project, we installed a 5 kW Anker SOLIX inverter with 10 kWh of battery storage, providing the homeowner with a system designed to store electricity and make better use of their energy.

Battery storage allows homeowners to store electricity for use later in the day, whether that’s energy generated by solar panels or electricity purchased during cheaper tariff periods.

Built With Care and Attention

One thing that makes this installation particularly special is the attention given to how the equipment is housed.

Rather than simply installing the inverter and batteries outside, I designed and built a purpose-made shelter to house the system.

Finished with black timber cladding and a tiled roof, the shelter provides a neat, practical space for the equipment while complementing its surroundings.

It’s something I take pride in. I don’t just want our installations to work properly — I want them to look good too.

Designed for Future Expansion

If you look closely at the photograph, you’ll notice we’ve deliberately left space alongside the existing battery system.

That’s because this installation has been planned with future expansion in mind.

The customer is preparing to increase their storage capacity, so we’ve allowed additional room for equipment rather than having to rebuild the installation later.

Once the expansion is completed, we’ll be able to share updated photographs showing how the system has developed.

It’s a good example of why we believe in planning installations properly from the beginning.

More Than Just Installing a Battery

Every battery storage installation is different.

We take the time to consider the customer’s electricity usage, available space, existing electrical installation and future requirements before recommending a suitable system.

From planning and installation through to testing, commissioning and explaining how everything works, we take responsibility for the work we carry out.

Our aim is simple: to provide battery storage installations that are safe, reliable, neatly finished and ready for the future.
